“From My Point of View”
For the artist LandStrip Chip, the journey toward releasing his latest project “From My Point of View” has not been a smooth one. From having stagnant recording deals to producer/studio drama Chip has seen all kinds of adversity on the road to completing this EP. There were a few dark times along the way but there was a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel for Chip, in one of the hottest producers/artist developers in the game today, the executive producer of “FMPOV” Squat Beats.
LandStrip Chip has a style that teeters between that of a rapper and a singer. He fits the new mold of hip hop artist that sings lyrics, with a rappers cadence, over trap and club beats. This new style is perfect for crooning hooks and translates well on almost any beat, especially for the style of production that Squat Beats provides. The music chemistry is undeniable between artist and producer with Chip and Squat, as Squat makes radio made tracks while Chip adds stories of pain, struggle, celebration, and the rakish perils of a young casanova.
“From My Point of View” is 10 tracks of smooth basslines, music box melodies, hard hitting kicks, topped with softly tuned vocals containing methodically vivid lyrics. The majority of the production came from Squat Beats, however hitmaker Go Grizzly, Keyz, TT Audi, and Jay Wise add a sonically professional landscape for the album. The few featured artists on MPOV, are a young, talented and trendy group of stars that all have breakthrough hits of their own: TK Kravitz, EEarz, Kap G, Dae Dae. The features compliment the projects sound precisely, proving that Squat took his time being selective and certain of each song. I would imagine it would be hard to when it comes to selecting the standout singles but Ball, Down Bitch ft. Kap G and No Stoppin ft. Dae Dae are special tracks that we are sure will catch their wave.
The release of “From My Point of View” was well orchestrated as if it was released by a major label. The reception of the project may not show skyrocketing results immediately but the songs are solid, the sound is first class, and the content is real, giving “From My Point of View” sustainable longevity for 2018 and beyond.
